OneNote trying to open a c:\Program Notebook that doesn't exist

On a fresh install of Office every time you open Onenote I get three boxes "we couldn't open that location" It might not exist or you might not have permission.  when you look at the properties of the location it points to c: or c:\(x86)\Microsoft or office\Office15 with the name of "Program". If you delete or remove this notebook it tries to open again once you close an reopen OneNote. You can change location of the notebook, but it only opens a new one when you restart the OneNote. I have tried deleting the cache, deleting all user files from %appdata%\Microsoft\OneNote and %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneNote and the CU Office 15 hive. None of these resolve the issue.

Any assistance you can provide would be most helpful.

Hi,

How did you clear the notebook cache? We can use two methods to clear the cache, please try both methods and then test the issue again.

Method 1: Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type onenote /safeboot in the box and press Enter. Then, click the Delete Notebook Cache button to clear the cache.

Method 2: Navigate to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\15.0, find the file named "OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache" and rename it to OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache.old. Restart your OneNote and test again.

In addition, please go to C:\Users\%username%\Documents\OneNote Notebooks and try opening a specific notebook to see if this issue continues.

Please let me know the result.

I attempted both ways of deleting the cache and neither resolves the issue.
